Here's Exactly What Working With Glacier Bear Looks Like

Hiring a contractor shouldn't feel like signing up for something you don't fully understand. This page exists so you know what's coming at every step — before you make any decisions.

The Process, From First Call to Finished Project

Step 1: You Reach Out

Call, text, or email us with a description of what you're working with. You don't need to have everything figured out — a general sense of the project and a few photos if you have them is plenty to get started. We'll take it from there.

Step 2: Free Estimate and Scope Review

We come out, walk the project with you, and give you a clear picture of what it involves — scope, timeline, and cost. This is a real conversation, not a pressure pitch. If we think something you're planning isn't necessary, we'll say so. If we see something else that warrants attention, we'll point it out.

The estimate is free. There's no obligation to move forward, and no awkward follow-up if you decide not to.

Step 3: Written Scope Confirmed Before Work Starts

Before anyone picks up a tool, we confirm the project scope in writing. You'll know exactly what's being done, in what order, and what it costs. If the scope changes for any reason — and we'll get to that — you hear about it before we act on it, not after.

Step 4: Work Begins — On Schedule

We show up when we say we will. Our team of eight means we're not bottlenecking your project on a single worker's availability, and we staff jobs to move efficiently. A 1,200 square foot flooring project completed in two days is what that looks like in practice — not a rushed job, just a well-run one.

We treat your home like guests. That means clean work habits, contained mess, and not leaving your house looking like a job site at the end of each day.

Step 5: If We Find Something Unexpected, We Tell You Immediately

Older Juneau homes have a way of revealing things once walls open up — rot behind siding, moisture in a floor cavity, mold where there was no obvious sign from the surface. This is common enough in Southeast Alaska that we plan for it.

If we find something, you hear about it before we touch it. We'll tell you what it is, what it means for the project, and what it would cost to address. The decision is yours. We don't add scope without a conversation first — ever.

Because we handle rot repair and mold remediation in-house, we're also better equipped to deal with unexpected findings than contractors who would have to stop the project and bring in a separate trade. Most of the time, we can fold the additional work into the existing scope without significant disruption.

Step 6: Cleanup and Walkthrough

When the work is done, we walk the project with you before we pack up. If something isn't right, we want to know while we're still there — not two weeks later over email. We clean up after ourselves, haul away debris, and leave the space ready to use.

Step 7: Follow-Up

We're a small, community-based company in a city of 32,000. Our reputation lives here, and we intend to keep it. If something comes up after the project closes, reach out — we stand behind our work.
